Transforming Our Finances In Actionable Ways

A friend recently shared this thoughtful quote with me and it was SO powerful that I had to share with you as well.

If you are going through a storm, remember it can’t rain forever. The sun will come out again. Put your energy into thoughts of where you want to be, how you want to feel.

Think of your thoughts as seeds you are planting. In your mind’s garden, what are you watering?

The rows of guilt, regret, sadness, worry. Or are you watering the rows of new opportunities, faith, gratitude, hope, love, joy, etc.

We take control of our life by understanding this. Thoughts become things. Be aware of what you are watering.

Positive Corners

Isn’t that a beautiful reminder about the POWER of our thoughts?

Because the truth is that the WAY WE THINK has a HUGE impact on all aspects of our lives, particularly our FINANCES.

That’s why one of the first things I do in my financial coaching, whether it be in my one-on-one work and/or group coaching program, as well as the work I do with Corporate Clients and their employees, is to focus on Money Mindset.

So, what is money mindset?

In simple terms, it is the CORE ATTITUDES & BELIEFS one has about MONEY.

The thing is that our Money Mindset impacts every single financial decision we make on a daily basis, from how we earn, spend, invest, and manage our personal finances.

Many of us have transgenerational money beliefs that we carry from childhood. Some of them may be positive, but many times they are NEGATIVE. It is those beliefs that set the dial on how we perceive money.

That’s why, when we are looking to positively transform our finances – it is so important to start with our MINDSET.

We must reflect and learn to spot the patterns that have gotten us where we are & find ways to transform them into positive habits and thoughts.

My Top 4 Tips to Guide you in this process:

CURRENT FINANCIAL HEALTH:

Analyze your current financial health. This includes having a serious look at your savings, debt, income, and expenses.

⭐️ REFLECTION ⭐️:
1. Are you where you want to be or are you far from the financial freedom picture you envision?

2. Can you spot what patterns and/or behaviors got you to the situation you are currently in?

3. Choose 2 quick actions you can take to get you on the path to success! Perhaps it is increasing your income by picking up a side-hustle and/or reducing some expenses.

EMOTIONAL CHECK:

Understand your emotions around money. It is important to particularly reflect on the triggers that may set you off in a negative manner.

For instance, if you are in debt, I want you to reflect on what has gotten you into that situation and what you can do – not only to get out of debt, but to put a STOP to accumulating more debt.

⭐️ REFLECTION ⭐️:
1. Can I spot certain behaviors that have got me into debt?

2. How can I change these behaviors to better support my financial wellness and goals?

POSITIVE FINANCIAL HABITS:

When we are trying to improve our physical health, we are more mindful of what we eat and tend to increase our exercise routines.

Well, the same goes for our personal finances. If you want to improve them, you have to create the habits that help you attain your financial goals.

⭐️ REFLECTION ⭐️:
1. What positive habits do I want to develop that will enable me to save more money and/or pay down debt?

2. What is one action that I can take today to reshape my money habits?

FOCUS ON WHAT YOU ARE WATERING:

Finally, I want you to focus on what types of thoughts are you watering in your Money Life – If you are harboring fear, regret, shame, and scarcity – it is time to LET GO!

IT IS TIME TO FORGIVE YOURSELF and start believing in the ABUNDANCE you are capable of attracting.

Yes, it requires you to dedicate time to your finances – there is NO getting around this fact – but in return you will step into ease.

1. What type of thoughts do I focus on daily when I think about money?

2. Choose one action that will help reshape your thoughts in a positive manner. Perhaps it can be as simple as including money mantras in your life and/or working with a money coach!
