Reframing, Believing, and Taking Your Time

In my role as a Certified Financial Educator (CFEI) and Wealth Coach, a common question that often arises, particularly from those that are in full-time employment is: “Should I quit my day job to start a new business and/or pursue their creative passions?”

As such, I wanted to share a few thoughts & tips around this important topic!

1️⃣ REFRAME YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR JOB

There is a lot of HYPE about being an entrepreneur (especially on the back of the Great Resignation period that took place during the pandemic) and YES there are wonderful benefits to it, but it also brings a multitude of pressures, stress, and financial commitments.

📌 There is NO shame in having a day job. On the contrary, think of your employer as your number one investor.

They are investing in YOU and you are investing YOUR TIME in them to grow your skills, network, and financial cushion for when you are able to make a career change.

2️⃣ A NEW BUSINESS AND/OR CREATIVE ENDEAVOR TAKES TIME

I get SO fed up when I see individuals on social media saying how they SUPPOSEDLY built a 7-figure business and retired within 6 months. I’m like…”Mate, show me your business plan, balance sheet, P&L statement, and bank accounts.” 😂 Because the truth is that simply doesn’t happen.

In fact, it’s quite the contrary:

👉🏼 20% of businesses fail in their first year

👉🏼 60% of businesses will go bust within the first three years

👉🏼 53.9% of writers only make $1,000 a year from their writing

So, RUN from anyone that is trying to sell you the possibility that you can become RICH and SUCCESSFUL quickly.

We have a saying in Spanish, “no todo lo que brilla es oro”…meaning “not everything that shines is gold.”

It’s a good motto to remember in our personal, business, and financial lives!

3️⃣ SOLID PERSONAL FINANCES WILL HELP YOUR BUSINESS AND CREATIVITY ENORMOUSLY

Why?

Because you will be able to build a heart-Centered business on your terms. ❤️

You will have the power to say NO to what doesn’t serve you and have the BREATHING ROOM to allow your CREATIVE FREEDOM to expand, without the pressure of wondering where your next mortgage and/or rental payment will come from.

This is particularly important during the launch of a new business, which always requires an investment of your TIME & MONEY!

NOW, FRIENDS…

The possibility of leaving your JOB to purse your dreams is 100% possible!

JUST REMEMBER:

⏰ Don’t rush it!

⛳️ Be clear on your goals – personal & financial – and make a precise PLAN to move forward & MANIFEST your dreams with focus and inspired action.

🙌🏼 Get help from those that are a few steps ahead of the game.

💰 Invest in yourself – hire the right people to help move you forward and up-level your knowledge & skills.

And always, always, always keep the HOPE & have FAITH!
