HI, I'M ANNA!

There’s a quiet magic that happens when we treat our creativity with care. When we give ourselves space to breathe, imagine, and build. And when we pair that creative magic with simple, nurturing money rituals?

We create a foundation where our art — and our lives — can truly flourish.

This is something I’ve seen again and again across my two worlds: the KidLit community and the creative entrepreneurs I support through my financial education & coaching business, Wear Your Money Crown®.

Whether you’re writing a picture book, illustrating a new character, drafting a YA novel, or building a creative business, the way you relate to your money deeply affects how you create.

And here’s the beautiful truth: When we feel financially centered, our creativity expands.

Because we can move from a place of confidence, clarity, and safety instead of focusing our energy on hustle and stress.

Today, I want to share a few gentle money rituals that support your creativity with wellness, joy, and intention.

Friends, I want you to pencil in once a week a special money check-in. I’m talking about one where you pour yourself a warm drink, light a candle, play music that grounds you and take 30 minutes (more if needed) to check in with your financial world.

Here’s a few questions you might want to explore:

  • What income-producing activities did I focus on? And of those activities, which were the most fruitful?
  • What expenses came up and what was the return on investment (ROI) of them?
  • What decisions helped me save money (perhaps you made coffee at home vs buying, etc)?
  • What small wins can you celebrate?
  • What financial lessons did you learn?

This ritual is about creating awareness and for creatives, awareness is power. It supports decisions rooted in calm instead of panic and helps nourish a more positive relationship with money.

It also helps us build consistent habits! And habits are the true foundation of financial success. It’s not about one big, perfect decision. It’s about showing up for yourself week after week, making small aligned choices that, over time, add up to more freedom, stability, and space for your art.

This one’s about stepping into your role as a business — because whether you’re employed, self-employed, or somewhere in between, your creative identity is also your brand.

So I invite you to set aside one day each month to zoom out and reflect on the bigger picture. After all, it’s about giving yourself the space to look at your creative life not just as a passion, but as something that deserves strategy, intention, and care.

This monthly check-in becomes a moment to realign, recalibrate, and reconnect with the bigger vision you’re building toward.

Ask yourself:

  • Are your creative goals aligned with your income and expenses?
  • Have I set aside savings (however small)?
  • What are you working toward that excites you?
  • What can you say no to, in order to focus on the long-term goal?

Your future self — the author signing books at a conference, the illustrator showcasing new work, the creative entrepreneur launching a heart-centered business — will thank you.

Mindset plays a powerful role in our creative lives. At its core, mindset is the lens through which we see the world — the beliefs, stories, and patterns that shape how we respond to opportunities, challenges, and even our own dreams.

I’ve experienced this in my own life and in the lives of dozens of my financial coaching clients. When we shift that lens from scarcity to abundance, our creative work opens up! It becomes more expansive, more joyful, and far more authentic.

Here are a few reflection prompts to support that shift:

  • What money stories or limiting beliefs are still influencing how I create today?
  • Where am I underselling myself and why?
  • What simple and doable money habits could support my creativity right now?
  • What would financial peace look like for my creative life?

These questions help you reconnect with your worth, release old narratives that no longer serve you, and approach your creative work with grounded confidence.

And over time, this shift in mindset becomes a powerful ally, one that supports not just your art, but the way you move through your entire creative journey.

Creative wins and financial wins are deeply connected. So, whether you finished a draft, tackled some tricky edits, saved some money to your emergency fund, said no to what no longer serves you…those are all WINS and they deserve to be celebrated.

As creatives, we often rush straight into the next milestone. We check the box, move to the next project, and barely pause to acknowledge what we just accomplished. But celebrating ourselves is not fluffy or self-indulgent. It is a superbly important part of sustaining a healthy creative life.

Also, when we take a moment to celebrate, we teach our brains to recognize progress. We reinforce the belief that our work matters. We also learn to build trust with ourselves, which directly impacts our ability to take risks, dream bigger, and stay resilient during the inevitable ups and downs of the creative journey.

Celebrations can be as simple as:

  • A walk outside
  • A favorite treat
  • Dancing with your cat (that’s me!)
  • A few minutes spent journaling what you are proud of

What matters is the intention.

By honoring the effort behind each step, you create a positive loop that encourages consistency, creativity, and confidence.

Friends, you deserve a creative life filled with joy, flow, and possibility. And I truly believe that these rituals will help nurture the artist within you and allow yourself the time and space to flourish.

XOXO,

Anna
